What is soundstagenorth?
As York Radio/Audio Drama Project, we were set up in 1993 to give writers, actors and people interested in production the opportunity to produce original plays written for the medium of sound.
Over the years, the Project produced five plays, two historical serials, a community based soap opera and a drama documentary. Finance has come from Yorkshire and Humberside Arts, York City Council, Ryedale District Council, Hull City Council, lottery funded schemes and the Arts Council.
With rapid changes in technology, the project has evolved to include production for new media involving the visual and performing arts in the North of England.
Soundstagenorth’s main producer is Guy Morgan, who has worked for Radio Television Hong Kong, ABC Radio Australia and for the BBC World Service.
